FAQs

What is the dress code for your wedding?

A special celebration calls for a spectacular outfit! Think timeless elegance, classic glamour, and just a hint magic. Gentlemen, a sharp suit with a tie/bowtie will have you looking the part. Ladies, a gown or elevated cocktail dress is perfect for the occasion.

We want you to feel comfortable (or re-wear a favourite piece!), but if don’t have something, we recommend hiring. For a little inspiration, check out this black will look best and just a small request: please avoid red or white/ivory.

Gifts

If you are planning on spoiling us, here’s the thing… we may be moving overseas, and while a new toaster sounds great, it doesn’t quite fit in a suitcase. So instead of kitchen appliances or fancy glassware, we’d love a little something to help us set up our future—wherever in the world we end up! There will be a wishing well upon entry to the wedding.

How do I get there?

The State Library of Victoria is located at 328 Swanston Street, Melbourne. However, Entrance 5 to the Isabella Fraser Room, is located on La Trobe Street, near the corner of Russell Street.

Train – Melbourne Central station is directly opposite the Library's Swanston Street entrance. Country travellers can transfer to metropolitan trains at Southern Cross or North Melbourne stations.

Tram – Ten tram routes take you directly to our entrances on Swanston Street and La Trobe Street.

Car - The Library doesn't have on-site parking, but there is paid street parking on La Trobe Street and several pay car parks close by, including at Melbourne Central and QV. There are three 2-hour parking spaces for people with a disability permit in La Trobe Street.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options?

Please let us know in advance if you require a speciality meal or have any dietary restrictions. We are able to co-ordinate with the venue for just about anything!
